San Diego is buzzing with events this weekend and next week!
From exuberant celebrations like the San Diego Pride Parade and Festival to
rich cultural experiences like the House of Colombia Lawn Program, the Mariachi
Summit, and the Obon Festival in Vista. Catch musical artists like Lea Salonga,
Ozomatli and Gregory Page, or laugh the night away at a comedy show by Ramy
Youssef or Ahmed Ahmed. There are also several theatrical productions happening
around town. And—coming up next week—don't miss checking out San Diego
International Comic-Con, the city's biggest event of the year. Even if you
don't have tickets, it's still a blast to ride the trolley and meander around
downtown to catch all the imaginative cosplay and enjoy the euphoric vibe of
"the Con"!
Don't forget to check out the new articles in our Cultural Tidings section, films screening around town, and the goodly number of ongoing events in San Diego!

Our Recipe for this month is Irish Chips with Curry Sauce. A pub and chip-shop favorite that blends the tastes of two great cultures!
A couple of decades ago, my family visited Ireland. It was a wonderful trip. Being a great fan of food from around the world, I must say, food was not exactly a highlight of our trip. While in recent times, nuevo and international cuisine has been making inroads into the Irish food scene, basic Irish food remains . . . rather basic.
Our International Music selection of the month is Al-Maraya by the Al Andaluz Project. Al-Marayœ (The mirror) is the sonorous title of the new and second Al Andaluz Project album. The litle is to be taken literally. Al-Maraya mirrors the Spanish traditions of the Jewish-sephardic, Arabic and Christian music in contemporary and vivid interpretations and shows the true face of the European folk music in all it's variety and facets.—Amazon
A mythic love story set in Trinidad, Ayanna Lloyd Banwo's radiant debut is a masterwork of lush imagination and exuberant storytelling—a spellbinding and hopeful novel about inheritance, loss, and love's seismic power to heal.
